Food as Medicine

Natural foods in their original form take longer to digest. When food is broken down into juices or powders, it is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream by passing much of the intestinal bacteria and causes rapid spikes in sugars and fats. This occurs after drinking juices or eating refined sugars or fats. These rapid spikes in sugar or fat in our blood stream trigger insulin and other metabolic hormones which shift these modules into our cells for immediate use or for storage as fat cells. When sugar levels rise and fall rapidly this can cause us to feel hungry again more quickly, leading to overeating. Repeated high levels of sugar and fats in the bloodstream causes inflammatory responses in the blood vessel walls leading to hardening of the arteries and heart disease. Incorporating natural, whole foods into your diet can help regulate blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of inflammatory responses, ultimately promoting better long-term health and well-being.
