Lekishon Just’us
I was born and raised in a local Maasai village in north Maasai Mara, where I developed a strong connection to nature and wildlife. My educational journey began at Emarti Primary School, and later, I attended Kilgoris Boys High School, excelling in both my class eight final exam and high school with second lot grade.
Driven by my passion for tourism and environmental conservation, I pursued a diploma in tour guiding and administration at the East Africa Utalii Institute. To complement my skills, I completed training at Rocky Driving School and gained driving expertise in Eldoret. With a deep-rooted commitment to addressing climate change issues, I actively engage as a climate change activist. For over 10 years, I have been guiding in various camps in the Mara, different locations across Kenya. As a result, I am well-versed in showcasing the beauty and diversity of the Maasai Mara and the rest of my country.
This year I am eagerly preparing for the prestigious Gold Level examination, the highest qualification for guiding in Kenya, which reflects my dedication to excellence in my profession.
Beyond my career in tourism, I have also taken on the role of Bom Chair of Olmeoshi Primary School, a young and promising institution. In my free time, I indulge in my passions for birdwatching and observing mammalian behavior, fueling my desire to protect and conserve the natural world.
I live a life filled with purpose, merging my love for the environment, guiding expertise, and commitment to education and conservation. I look forward to meeting you at Kiserian Camp and sharing my knowledge with you.

I have been a GP in the UK for 20 years. Prior to that I specialised in Paediatrics and Child Health and obtained my Membership to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2002. I also hold Membership to the Royal College of General Practitioners, a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a Postgraduate Certificate of Medical Education and Leadership. I have completed a Diploma in Expedition and Wilderness Medicine. And recently became a Certified FM Practitioner with the Institute of Functional Medicine.
In 2013 I set up one of the UK’s first Integrated Primary Care Centres within the NHS. We run HERA, an extensive creative arts based programme which is free to our patients. We run an integrated, holistic Trauma Programme called Connection Works. This programme provides education on diet and nutrition, sleep, exercise and social connection as well 6 week courses of acupuncture, equine therapy, trauma informed yoga, trauma informed reflexology, foraging walks, nature walks and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE). We run group sessions on Integrated Menopause support and ADHD support as well as Diabetes and Brain Health
I was lucky enough to do a TEDx talk with our acupuncturist in 2015 and I have recently written a book called ‘What Seems To Be The Problem?’ which was published by HarperCollins in July 2022. I am also part of the Andrew Weil Integrated Medicine Leaders programme at the University of Arizona.
I have always been passionate about understanding the body’s intrinsic wisdom and power to heal. I believe we have much to learn from people who live authentic lives close to nature. The cultures and practices which have been passed down over millennia are often easily transcribed into the ‘new science of nature’.
I am so excited to be working with Nathalie and Just’us and co-creating this innovative programme which combines ancient philosophies and cutting edge science.

My personal wellness journey started in my mid-twenties. Working in many highly pressured jobs and feeling that I had little or no energy; motivated me to explore a path of greater physical and mental wellbeing. For more than 10 years, I’m a certified yoga teacher, a qualified masseuse and a healthy food enthusiast. Over the years I have also incorporated Ayurvedic principles and practices into my work. Currently I’m training to become a certified Deepak Chopra Ayurvedic Health Coach together with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
I believe that everyone deserves to feel amazing! So back in 2014, I launched Malakai Wellness to share my passion. Since then I have organized a number of retreats around the world, from sunny Nicaragua, Bali, Mexico, Spain, Guatemala and currently in the wilderness of Kenya.
Over the years, I have combined different wellness practices, including yoga (Ashtanga, Vinyasa & Yin), Pranayama (breath work), meditation, massage, Ayurvedic self-care rituals and sound healing to guide others to feel invigorated and embrace a vibrant life.
I have always been inspired by my travels and the natural world. Observing and learning from different cultures; and understanding our interconnection with nature. This inspiration has gifted me with some beautiful insights that I’m passionate about sharing as part of my holistic wellness work. I feel both grateful and excited to be working alongside Laura and Just’us. Sharing our combined wisdom during this unique retreat experience, in one of the most beautiful locations I know.
Blessings!
